Hey there!

We totally understand that meeting your instructor for the first time can be nerve-racking. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! We’ve all written a little blog about ourselves so you can get to know us better before our first meet-up. We hope this helps you feel more comfortable and excited to get started!

Hi my name is Lewis, I have been an ADI for 32 years and absolutely love the job . I have had the privilege to teach generations of new students the driving skills for life including my own sons.

I qualified as a Driving Instructor having been awarded a resettlement grant after completing 8 years active service in the Royal Navy.

After many years trading alone as The Anchor School Of Motoring I joined forces with Adam Bolton of AB Drive and between us trained Gary Gregory to become a Driving Instructor. Gary who was an ex student of mine qualified with flying colours and has been working alongside us for sometime. Gary has gained much respect within the community with many passes under his belt.

Very recently we have expanded to offering Automatic Tuition by training Kathy who has already taken to the role like a duck to water.

Hi, I’m Adam.

As a qualified Approved Driving Instructor, I pride myself on offering more than just standard lessons. I bring a unique mix of driving expertise and mechanical knowledge to the passenger seat.

Because I understand exactly how a vehicle operates under the bonnet, I can offer my students deeper insights into car control, making you a smoother and more sympathetic driver. I combine this technical knowledge with a teaching style that is supportive, relaxed, and focused on safety. I am also fully First Aid trained and hold qualifications across multiple vehicle categories.

Big News: I recently merged my company, abdrive.co.uk, with Anchor School of Motoring to form AB-drive-Anchor. This partnership allows us to expand our reach and offer greater availability for both manual and automatic students.

Before stepping into this role, I worked in a variety of jobs—from fast food to account management—but teaching has always been at the heart of what I do. Whether training colleagues in previous roles or guiding learners behind the wheel, I’ve developed a patient and supportive approach that makes learning both effective and enjoyable.
For the past four years, nothing has brought me more joy than seeing my students gain confidence and pass their driving test. I tailor lessons to suit individual learning styles, making sure you feel comfortable and capable on the road.

Hey there! My name is Kathy and I am thrilled to be a new addition to the AB Drive Anchor team. I have two amazing teenage daughters and I am proud to say that I helped my eldest daughter pass her driving test with flying colors. It was such a rewarding experience that it inspired me to pursue a career as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). I want to help others learn to drive safely on the roads, just like I would teach my own children.

I specialize in automatic driving lessons and I cover the Clacton area. I am so grateful to be part of such a fantastic team and I couldn’t have gotten here without their support. I can’t wait to meet all my new students and help them become confident, safe drivers.

My journey into driver education was inspired by my stepdad, a seasoned instructor with over 20 years of experience. Seeing the lasting impact he made on his students motivated me to follow in his footsteps.
I offer automatic driving lessons, catering to students of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re new to driving or looking to refine your skills, I tailor lessons to suit individual learning styles, creating a patient and supportive environment. My goal is to help you develop safe and responsible driving habits at your own pace.

Hi, I’m Des!

I am the newest PDI to join the incredible team here at AB Drive Anchor , and I couldn’t be happier to be here. Becoming an instructor has been a lifelong ambition of mine. Although I started this journey years ago, life took me down a different path—but my passion for teaching never faded.

I bring over 30 years of driving experience to the passenger seat. Over the years, I’ve successfully taught my own children, family, and friends, guiding them to first-time passes. Now, with the professional support of team, I’m officially on the road to becoming a fully qualified ADI.

I know how hard it can be to fit lessons around work or school, so I specialize in evening and weekend lessons in Colchester. I’m ready to use my decades of road knowledge to help you pass your test with confidence!
